Audiences
Crystal's Vardo has been performing to a wide range of audiences since 2012.
Since then, we have performed to schools, colleges, youth offending units, prisons, festivals, theatres, conferences, libraries and museums.
Schools
Crystal's Vardo has visited almost 60 schools around the country, teaching pupils about the histories of the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities. Crystal's Vardo is an engaging and exciting resource for settled and nomadic students to learn not only about different cultures, but also valuable life skills including empathy and tolerance.
Crystal's Vardo has developed resources to promote cultural affirmation for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller pupils and to educate settled pupils about the contributions Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities have made to British society. The performance can be followed with a discussion and a teacher's pack to provide an opportunity for the themes to be discussed.
When 45 teachers were asked, 89% said that their knowledge of the history and culture of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities had increased significantly as a result of seeing Crystal's Vardo. Of those, 58% said that they knew little or nothing about the histories of the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller cultures beforehand.
Find out more about the experience of education for pupils from the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities in the Policy & Publications section of the website.

Crystal's Vardo is a unique performance experience for prison audiences. It instils a sense of pride and recognition among inmates from the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.
