NEW REPORTS: FFT release series of reports to help tackle health inequalities

In collaboration with Roma Support Group, Friends, Families and Travellers (FFT) has published a series of reports on barriers and inequalities faced by Gypsies, Roma and Travellers across healthcare, as part of the VCSE Health and Wellbeing Alliance Programme.

Offering insight into a wide scope of healthcare needs and services, these resources are designed to support health professionals and policymakers working with Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people and offer guidance on how to better meet needs, by embedding practical solutions within healthcare settings and interactions.

You can find the reports here:

Romany Gypsy, Roma and Irish Traveller people experience the poorest health outcomes out of any other minority ethnic groups in the UK.

These resources provide a roadmap towards ensuring Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities are included in the planning and provision of health services.

Highlighting the importance of these new reports, Michelle Gavin, Head of Business Development at Friends, Families and Travellers said:

This series of reports offer a snapshot of the barriers Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people face across various areas of healthcare services and settings and, essentially, what can be done to tackle them.

With the far-reaching and knock-on impact of health inequalities, it is vital that health professionals are equipped with the right knowledge and understanding to properly address health inequalities experienced by Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities, who are often at the sharpest end of society.”
