Today, Friends, Families and Travellers are launching a new campaign to tackle the Government’s draconian Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, and we’re asking you to get involved.
Parliament is once again debating on bringing in harsh new laws against nomadic people. It’s crucial that your MP understands the impact of these proposals.
Join us and make a stand today by asking your MP to end plans to criminalise people living on roadside camps.
There is a serious national shortage of places for nomadic Gypsies and Travellers to legally and safely stop. However, the Government is trying to bring in new laws which mean people living on roadside camps could face time in prison, a £2500 fine and a family’s home and possessions seized.
The proposals are widely open to interpretation and could impact everyone who is or wishes to live nomadically – by culture, choice or necessity.
Everybody needs a place to live. It should not be a crime to have nowhere to go.
Use our quick and easy tool to email your MP today. It takes just a couple of minutes. Letters to MPs are better when personalised, but feel free to use any or all of our template text.
